Home/Home Battery
Your own power,
stored for later
Store self-generated power and use it whenever it suits you. Less dependent on the grid, more sustainable and ready for the future.
Get more out of your own energy
Keep the energy from your solar panels for when you need it.
Use your own power instead of feeding it back at a low rate.
Charge when electricity is cheap and consume during peak-price hours.
With a battery that has a backup power supply you keep essential appliances running during a power outage.
An important step towards an independent, green home.
Matched to your wishes, energy consumption and existing installation.
Via the Victron VRM portal you can see at any moment what your system generates, stores and uses.
Victron ESS: your energy, smartly managed
A Victron Energy Storage System (ESS) combines your solar panels, home battery and grid through one bidirectional inverter: the MultiPlus-II. It continuously determines the smartest step: store, consume or export.
Do you produce more than you consume during the day? The MultiPlus-II charges the battery. When the battery is full, the rest goes to the grid. In the evening and at night the battery supplies your consumption, so you use self-generated power instead of feeding it back at a low price.
Existing solar panels can in most cases be retained. The MultiPlus-II is installed alongside your current inverter.
Stored in the battery or consumed directly

Without ESS vs. with ESS
Left: exporting surplus during the day at 6 ct/kWh; buying back in the evening at 24 ct/kWh. Right: storing in the battery and consuming yourself.
Illustrative example scenario, based on an average household with solar panels and two battery modules (10.24 kWh). Actual values vary per situation.
You get the most from a battery on a dynamic energy contract: you charge when power is cheap and use it when it is expensive. On a fixed contract that price difference disappears, but the battery still raises your own consumption and limits what you feed back to the grid. That counts for more from 1 January 2027, when the Dutch net metering scheme ends.
